This façade for Fire Station 20 in Sacramento portrays the history of firefighting in the region. The terracotta tile mural was designed to blend with the classic style and color of the brick architecture.
I interviewed firefighters and researched historic photographs, artifacts, trucks, and emblems, as well as the clay used in the brick veneer.

Seven sculpted terracotta panels, each of varying sizes, present historical images. The work is designed to honor the firefighters who risk their lives in the protection of the community.
