The entrance to the Performing Arts Center at American River College, Confluence of the Arts, leads people into a theater arts complex through a series of angular walls, featuring cascading inlaid tiles representing the flow of water, and swirling shaped metal suggesting the staccato and allegro of music. This public artwork is a collaboration created along with metal sculptor Laura Parker. The work also incorporates a water fountain symbolizing rhythm and change. It all converges to express elements of performance. The larger environment of the arts center and the college presents the confluence of flowing rivers, an intersection of the arts, and the crossroads of learning.
