Transitions, a light rail public art project, utilizes the entire plaza area of the station as a garden-like environment blending soft landscaping and hardscaping, with references to mountains, rivers and riparian woodlands. It incorporates boulders, cast concrete walls, inlaid tiles, and native plantings. The concept of “transitions” relates to the shift from personal time to work time, then back from work toward home, as well as transitions in life; it also refers to the geological shift from mountains to valley, from water source to river.
